Your first Lessons

When you begin your martial arts program at our school you will have two 15 to 20 minute introductory classes these are always at the start of the month. This will enable you to grasp the basic concepts of our syllabus in a safe and more personal environment. The orientation classes are a must, as you will be taken through some of the most important martial arts techniques. On week two we form the main beginners class which will run for the remainder of the month. At the end of the month you will be qualified to wear our first belt which is yellow and you will be moved up a class.

Junior Tae Kwon-Do

During your FREE introductory period you should be prepared to make a decision as to your future at our school. You will need to be planning on living in the area for at least the next six months. We run a very open and straightforward monthly payment system. The monthly fee is paid by standing order to our tuition management company who handle all of our finances, so you should have a bank account that will accept this facility. All training fees, Grading fees, Insurance, Belts, certificates, Licence (and Merit Badges for juniors) are included. You should look to train twice a week but you can train as often as you like at no extra cost. We do have a life time membership fee of Twenty Pounds which is payable with you first months tuition, the standing order will take effect from then on. You can cancel you agreement at any time, all we ask is that you give us 90 days notice so that we can enrol someone to take your place, you will still be welcome to train during this period.
  Merit Badges

We run two badge days a month in each school. Each junior student is entitled to take a small test to earn the badges. They will have two weeks to practice for each one and the junior members love them. They can be sewn on the right sleeve of their uniform, we fins this keeps the focused on their training and encouraging them to practice at home whilst gaining a sense of achievement.

Spotlight Week

Spotlight week takes place once a month. It is during this time that a student's progression is assessed. In order to qualify a student has to have attended a minimum of 8 classes per month. The children must have also completed an 'Intent to Promote form'. This unique form includes such items as completing their homework and keeping their bedroom tidy and must be completed by teachers and parents. This week gives the students a fair chance of making the required standards to move up to the next grade.

An average student will take around 4 to 5 years to achieve the coveted Black Belt. Attitude effort and consistency are key factors that contribute to a person's progress. We are aware that there are so-called martial arts instructors that promise you a black belt in 2 years but if that's what you want then save yourself the money and just go and buy one in a local sports shop. But don't expect to have the qualities of a genuine Black Belt.

To earn a Black Belt you will need to work hard and persevere. To get there its not going to be easy, but we will help you to overcome the difficulties and encourage you to reach your full potential.
